Most people have likely not heard of the condition prosopagnosia, which is a rare face blindness disorder, but Oscar-winning actor Brad Pitt is more familiar with the condition than most. The Bullet Train star says he believes he suffers from the condition, although he has never been formally diagnosed.

In a new interview with GQ, Pitt explained that nobody believes him when he says he has it and that he wants to meet someone else who suffers from it. The reporter who wrote the feature story explains that Pitt “fears it’s led to a certain impression of him: that he’s remote and aloof, inaccessible, self-absorbed. But the truth is, he wants to remember the people he meets and he’s ashamed that he can’t.”

People with prosopagnosia have trouble recognizing others. Most people with the condition suffer from it from birth and struggle to recognize their family members, friends and partners, according to the NHS.

Pitt has talked about face blindness before in an interview with Esquire: “I can’t grasp a face and yet I come from such a design/aesthetic point of view,” he said in 2013.
